Assistant Directing TREVOR @ Circle X Theatre I am thrilled to announce the opening of TREVOR by Nick Jones at Circle X Theatre Co. in Atwater Village.  About two months ago I was approached by a close friend with the chance to assist the director, Stella Powell Jones.  I had never considered directing a play, but leapt at the chance to work with a company that includes Laurie Metcalf, Jimmi Simpson and Mary Elizabeth Ellis.  If you don’t already know, these are Olympic Athletes of acting.  Every day yielded incredible discoveries…read more

Commercial Shoot with Blake Shelton “Chew tobacco, Chew tobacco, Chew tobacco SPIT!” This week’s adventure landed me in a commercial shoot for an underwear company with blue-collar crooner Blake Shelton.  It was directed by Jason Farrand of Aero Film, and features myself as an assistant director, wearing a shirt covered in little foxes.  Life is strange.  Strange is good.  Life is good.

Dior Collection Shoot with Marion Cotillard and Peter Lindbergh This week I had the insane pleasure of playing dress up with Marion Cotillard, as she shot photos for the 2015 Dior couture and accessories collection.  The shoot was run by legendary photographer Peter Lindbergh and took place at a solar farm in Lancaster, north of Los Angeles.  In true high fashion form there were vintage Corvette Stingrays, Airstream trailers, a transparent phone booth and a futuristic-looking telescope.  All of which amount to some truly incredible photos of Marion and her…read more

“The Gift of Nothing”at the Kennedy Center This holiday season for the first time, Patrick McDonnell’s beloved MUTTS comic strip characters leap into life in a new musical at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC!  Directed by Aaron Posner and featuring music and lyrics from Andy Mitton, this is a truly adorable original holiday show about the true value of gift giving.  I’ll be playing Ozzie, an eternally optimistic dog owner and I’ll be singing and dancing for hundreds and HUNDREDS of children.  If…read more

WOMEN @ Theatre Asylum   Get ready for the return of WOMEN by Chiara Atik.  This fast, fun and hilarious mash up of Louisa May Alcott’s “Little Women” and HBO’s GIRLS, took home “Best Comedy” and “Top of Fringe” honors at the Hollywood Fringe Festival.  It just completed a successful New York run, and now returns with a brand new cast for an extended LA showing at Theatre Asylum.  I’ll be playing Mr. Brooke and doing my best not to crack up on stage. womentheshow.com (NOTE: I will be in…read more

“BLODD TIES” released on DVD and Blue Ray My first part in a feature film is now on DVD.  In addition to being available on iTunes, Amazon and wherever else people watch movies these days, BLOOD TIES now has a physical form.  The major perk of the DVD is a “behind the scenes” documentary expertly directed by Guillaume Cotillard (My brother in law and Marion Cotillard’s brother).  It’s amazing in its own right and worth a look.

THE YELLOW BOAT @ Coeurage Theatre Co. David Saar’s The Yellow Boat opened at the Grove Theatre Center last week in Burbank.  People have come to see it.  People have loved it.  People have left in tears. Coeurage is one of the most honest and insightful theatre companies in LA, and again, they’ve put together some surprising, grounded and frankly beautiful live theatre.  I happen to be lucky enough to be a part of it. The Yellow Boat tells the story of Benjamin Saar, a young boy born with hemophilia….read more

Blood Ties – In Theaters and VOD At long last Guillaume Canet’s “Blood Ties” has made it’s way to the States.  After a premiere at Cannes and a theatrical run in France, I am proud to say, “I’m in a movie”. You can look for me in the police station, about 45 minutes into the film, just before Zoe Saldana confront’s Billy Crudup’s “Frank” in the lobby. For those of you who would like to see the entire film, it is being shown in select theatres and is available on…read more

Lenovo Internet Spot I just finished shooting an internet commercial for the new Lenovo YOGA tablet.  It is apparently part laptop, part tablet, part waterproof floatation device.  The spot, produced by ELECTRIC MACHINE MEDIA, features myself and a gaggle of other funny people rampaging around an office in fits of uncontrollable rage.  Long story short, we use a couch as a battering ram break into a vending machine, the sprinklers go off and wouldn’t life just be easier if we all had a Lenovo Yoga Tablet.  The spot should be…read more

“By the Bog of Cats” at Theatre Banshee On Saturday, November 2nd Theatre Banshee will open it’s doors to bring you BY THE BOG OF CATS by Marina Carr.  The play is a powerful and funny view into the life of a rural town in the Irish midlands.  It is a place where painfully real domestic life and otherworldly mysticism collide.  Spirits roam the marshes and prophecies ought not to be ignored.  It is a Celtic stab at MEDEA, with a tornado-like life all its own.  I play the man…read more
